Hello? Hello!

Hello there!

I know it has been a while since I've posted. *ahem* Ok, so 2 1/2 years. I guess I was pretty busy there with nursing school, graduation, starting a new job, and moving to nights. I still may not post uber-often, but I at least thought I would put up a new post.

I'm now an RN as most of you probably know. I am working at a local hospital in the ICU. It's challenging, but I'm learning a lot that I hope I can take with me throughout my career as a nurse. I decided to journal through my first year a nurse (at least). I think it will be helpful to look back and see how much I've grown and the lessons I've learned. Of course, there are the funny stories that happen sometimes too. Maybe someday I'll write a book!

Dan and I just celebrated our 8th anniversary. Sometimes it's hard to believe we've been married that long. Other times, it's hard to remember a time before we were married. It's funny what time does to our perceptions. I'm pretty sure I'm going to keep him though. ;)

I've been trying to be more consistent with my running, but not beating myself up when I can't do it. Beating myself up is a tactic I learned at a very young age that I'm trying to get away from. Turns out, it's ok to fail as long as you get up and try again. Who knew? So I'm running, I am a runner. I'm just not running anything really impressive right now. I was hoping to do a 10k this fall and a half-marathon next year, but my current work schedule doesn't allow for me to dedicate that much (consistent) time to training. But maybe someday. :) For now, I'll enjoy my runs when I can.

I recently discovered podcasts. These can be a lot of fun! They're great to listen to while I'm working in the kitchen or folding laundry. I got hooked on one called Serial. I can't wait until they come out with another season! I also really enjoy Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me with Peter Sagal. I literally laugh out loud while I'm running! American Test Kitchen can be pretty informative too. I also enjoy the Radically Christian podcasts. It's like being a fly on the wall in a bible study. :) Do you listen to podcasts? Which ones are your favorite?

"This I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; the yare new every morning; great is your faithfulness. 'The Lord is my portion' says my soul, 'therefore I will hope in him.'" Lamentations 3:21-24

Until next time!
